 August

August is the time to prepare your garden for fall planting. Prepare the soil by adding compost. Solarize the soil, if desired by covering with clear plastic for six weeks to kill and drive out soil pathogens.

In the late part of this month or the beginning of September fertilization will help most plants struggling to have a push of growth before slowing for winter. The growth put on before dormancy lets plants store more energy during winter. the extra energy helps the plant when it pushes growth in the spring

8/26/  It's bean time.
